Meet Ivan Akampurira
Born and raised in the pearl of Africa, Uganda, I've spent my entire life surrounded by the incredible wildlife and landscapes that I now share with travelers from around the world.
My journey into safari guiding began over 7 years ago, driven by a deep passion for Uganda's natural heritage and a desire to share it with others. Growing up near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, I developed a profound respect for mountain gorillas and the importance of conservation.
In 2017, I founded Penny Africa Safaris with a clear mission: to make authentic safari experiences accessible to everyone, not just luxury travelers. I believe that witnessing Uganda's wildlife shouldn't require a fortune – it should be a life-changing experience available to all who dream of it.
Today, I'm proud to be a certified safari guide registered with the Uganda Tourism Board. But more than that, I'm grateful for every traveler who trusts me to show them the Uganda I love. When you safari with me, you're not just a client – you're my guest, and I treat you like family.
