Get ready for your fill of wild encounters as you meet the animals that make Uganda truly special. This tour includes primates and wildlife in Uganda combined with Ngamba Island sanctuary visit which is the great work of Jane Goodall institute for the protection and conservation of chimpanzees.
Your primate tour continues with a visit to Kibale Forest National Park for chimp tracking. This powerful encounter with the chimps in their natural habitat is simply unforgettable. The journey continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park and through Ishasha Region, which is famous for the tree-climbing lions. Finally, you’ll have the experience you’ve been waiting for: an encounter with the mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival in Entebbe
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by Penny Africa Safaris driver guide. After meeting and greeting, you will be taken to your booked overnight hotel in Entebbe.

Day 2
Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary for Chimpanzee Tour
In the morning after breakfast, your guide picks you up from the hotel for a transfer to the ferry boarding point for a 45-minute boat cruise to Ngamba Island, home to the orphaned chimpanzees living in the protected sanctuary.
On arrival, the duty caretakers will take you around the chimp home and brief you about the history of the sanctuary and how and why the chimps were transferred to this island. You’ll then participate in the feeding session and enjoy a chance to interact with the chimpanzees. Standing on the visitor platform, you’ll also notice their unique behaviors (and be allowed to take pictures). In the evening, you’ll return by ferry to Entebbe then go by road to your Entebbe accommodation.

Day 3
Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park
Now it’s time to head up-country. We’ll start with a drive to the south west of Uganda to the town of Fort Portal before then proceeding to Kibale Forest National Park. We’ll have lunch on the drive, then arrive at Kibale forest in the evening and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.
Total Drive Time: 6 – 7 hours.

Day 4
Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park for a briefing session by the park officials. Then it’s time to set off to the rainforest for chimpanzee tracking. Chimps are tracked along the Kanyanchu Primate Walk Trails, where you’ll glimpse these playful human-like primates.
For over 25 years chimpanzees have been tracked in Kibale Forest and therefore you have about a 99% chance of coming close to these man-like animals.
After chimp trekking, you’ll take a 5 minute drive to Bigodi Wetland for a swamp walk. This nature walk in Bigodi takes you through the beautiful trails of the swamp with several sightings of primates and bird species. After the nature walk, you’ll return to your lodging facility.

Day 5
Queen Elizabeth National Park
From Kibale Forest National Park, we’ll take you up to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited wildlife safari park. You’ll arrive in time for lunch and then go for an evening game drive in the savannah plains where you can see wildlife like lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, striped jackals, kobs, warthogs, hippopotamus, and more.
After the game drive, you’ll take a sunset drive to your accommodation to relax and spend the night.
Total drive time: 4 – 5 hours.

Day 6
Morning game drive and boat cruise at Queen Elizabeth National Park
At sunrise, you will enjoy a morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector. This area is popular as the mating ground for several antelopes, particularly for the Uganda Kob. You’ll likely see several other wild animals including lions, buffaloes, and elephants.
After the game drive, you’ll return to your lodge for lunch then proceed for the boat cruise on the 32km long Kazinga channel that joins lakes Edward and George. This is the perfect time to see numerous hippopotami in the water. Other wildlife can be seen along the banks as well as bird species.

Day 7
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha sector
At the hotel, enjoy an early breakfast and then embark on the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We’ll head through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park which is famed for the tree climbing lions. After a short game drive in this area, we’ll take lunch and then proceed to Bwindi Forest Park by way of lush countryside. We’ll arrive in time for dinner in the land of the gorillas.
Total drive time: 5 – 6 hours.

Day 8
Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early morning breakfast, your Uganda safari driver guide will pick you up from the accommodation facility for a drive to the gorilla tracking headquarters.
At the headquarters, you’ll be brief on the tracking etiquette before 8:00am local time. During briefing, groups of 8 tourists are allocated a single gorilla family to trek according to fitness levels. Each tourist then receives a trekking stick and heads to the jungle in company of the park rangers and guides.
Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi is unpredictable because of the movement behaviors of the gorillas, therefore the activity can last between 6-8 hours. These hours are spent in search of the gorillas. However, once we find them, you’ll have 1 hour in the presence of these gentle giants.
At the end of this unforgettable hour, you’ll return to the park headquarters where you’ll receive a Uganda gorilla trekking tour certificate. Afterward, you’ll meet with your safari driver guide for a drive to your lodging facility.

Day 9
Transfer from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Entebbe
On the morning of your trip’s last day, you’ll have breakfast then begin the trip back to Entebbe International Airport for your flight. We’ll have lunch en route and stop at the equator line for some fun photos. From the equator, you continue to the airport for a departure flight.
